FAQ

Questions, answered

Everything customers ask before moving their payroll, loan book or exchange business onto the platform — from getting started to going live with real payments.

Getting started

How do I start?

Create an account on the product you need — BTAS Payrolls, Ngychom Lending or Ngychom FX. You get a workspace for your business, become its administrator and can invite your team straight away. No card is required.

Do I need all three products?

No. Each product is independent and priced separately. Most businesses start with one and add the others later; the accounts do not overlap, so nothing carries across automatically.

How long does setup take?

Creating the workspace takes under a minute. Practical setup depends on your data: a few minutes if you import a spreadsheet, longer if you add records by hand.

Can I try it with real-looking data?

Yes. Everything works with simulated payments until you connect live payment keys, so you can run the whole workflow — payroll runs, loan disbursements, exchange payouts — without moving money.

Your existing data

Can I import my current records?

Yes. Every product imports from Excel (.xlsx) or CSV: employees, borrowers and clients, live loans with outstanding balances, beneficiaries, and opening year-to-date payroll figures.

My spreadsheet's column names are different — is that a problem?

No. When the columns do not match ours, the app shows a mapping step where you match your columns to our fields. It is remembered for your company, so the next file of the same shape skips the step.

What if some rows have errors?

Nothing is written until you confirm. You get a row-by-row preview showing what will be saved and exactly what needs fixing, using the row numbers from your spreadsheet.

Can I undo an import?

Yes — one click removes what that import created. Rows that have since been used (a payslip issued, a repayment posted) are kept and reported rather than deleted.

We are migrating payroll mid-year. Does that break the first payslip?

No, provided you load opening year-to-date balances (gross, PAYE, pension, NHF/NHIA and net already recorded). The payslip engine adds them to the year's figures so the first payslip continues correctly.

Security, access and data

Who can see our data?

Only your workspace. Each business is isolated at the database level — staff of one company cannot see another's records, and that isolation is verified by an automated test before every release.

What roles can I give my team?

Company admin (everything, including the team), manager (operations such as approvals and disbursements), staff (day-to-day processing) and auditor (read-only reporting).

Is there an audit trail?

Yes. Sign-ins, approvals, role changes, imports, exports and every privileged action are recorded with who, what and when, and can be exported.

What is a platform super-admin?

An internal role for the owner and technical staff, controlled by a deployment-level allowlist rather than anything inside the app. It cannot be granted through any screen, and those accounts must use two-factor authentication.

Do you support two-factor authentication?

Yes — authenticator-app codes (TOTP) with single-use recovery codes. It is mandatory for platform administrators and optional for everyone else.

Where is the data stored, and can we get it out?

In managed PostgreSQL infrastructure in the European Union. Every product exports to CSV, Excel and PDF, and full backups can be downloaded and restored at any time.

Passwords?

Stored only as salted hashes, never recoverable in plain text. Administrators can issue a temporary password to a team member; the user changes it after signing in.

Payments and going live

Does it move real money?

When you connect your own payment provider keys, yes: salary disbursements, loan repayments and currency payouts can run through the provider you already use. Until then every flow is clearly marked as simulated.

How do we switch from simulated to live?

Add your provider keys in the product's settings (or as deployment environment variables), register the webhook URL the settings page shows you, and the app leaves simulated mode.

Who pays the transaction fees?

You pay your provider's fees directly; we do not mark them up. Our fee is for the software, quoted per business.

What happens to webhooks and callbacks?

Each product exposes a webhook endpoint for the provider, with signature verification and duplicate protection, and each callback returns to the correct business automatically.

Pricing and licensing

What does it cost?

Evaluation is free and includes the full product. Production pricing is quoted per business based on the volume you process — employees paid, loans serviced or transfers settled. See the pricing page for what is included.

Do you charge per user?

No. You can invite as many team members as you need at no extra per-seat cost.

Can I pay monthly or annually?

Both, once a quote is agreed. Terms are set out in writing before anything is charged.

Is there a contract or minimum term?

That is agreed with your quote. There is no minimum for evaluation use.

Do you offer onboarding help?

Yes — data migration and onboarding support are part of production plans. Tell us what you are moving from and we will plan it with you.

Support and compliance

How do I get help?

Every product has an in-app help centre with step-by-step guides and an interactive training board, plus manuals you can download in Word or PDF. For anything else, contact support.

Is there training for staff?

Yes — a training manual per product, a video script pack for walkthroughs, and exercises inside the app that use real screens with safe data.

Does the software handle Nigerian statutory rules?

BTAS Payrolls computes PAYE (with rent relief and tax bands), pension, NHF and NHIA from the rule set in force for the period. You remain responsible for filings; the app produces the schedules you file.

Are you a licensed lender or bureau?

No. We provide software. Your licences, registrations and regulatory obligations remain yours, and each product is designed so you can meet them — records, consents, audit trails and exportable reports.

Still unsure?

Tell us what you are moving from and roughly how much you process — we will answer with specifics rather than a brochure.
